INDIVIDUALIZED:

The curriculum is planned and directed towards the individual and his unique learning needs. He can develop and work at his own initiative, within the limits of his own speed, and according to his own unique capabilities. He can be free from confused group pressures and exploit his genius towards individual acceleration and his highest potential. Through controlled progress and motivation, the student accelerates to his own success.

 

ACHIEVEMENT ORIENTED:

The curriculum places the tools of academic learning in the hands of students. Since learning tools are tailored to his ability – not age – an impressive degree of success is certain, which continues motivation pushes towards greater success.

Students in the program regularly achieve more than one year's worth of work for each year in school; some as much as two years. By prescribing curricula individually and motivating towards maximum achievement, no fast student is held back and no slow student is compelled to keep up with a lock-step group. Both will enjoy their individual successes. Neither will suffer the “failure” image.

BIBLE-CENTERED:

Education is life, and the Bible is the Book of life! It is the basis of all text materials used in the curriculum. It is the basis of all human relations and principles of teaching.

From the onset, a student learns that all life belongs to God and was made for Him. In science, he studies God's laws for the universe. In history, a student sees the unfolding of God's plan for the ages and the redemption of His people. In the alternative, he learns to test other writers by Christian standards so he can appreciate what is good and true and beautiful and discern what is false or dishonoring to God. In social studies and civics, the student learns that true government is ordained of God and requires our loyalty and support. He learns the principle of honesty, decency, cooperation, and fair play because these are rules that God has set up for the ordering of our life together.

Christian Legacy Academy thrives because it stands for something. We have high standards, and, by God's grace, we stick to them. We are firmly convinced that there are eternal values. And these are the truths we teach. In the process, we turn out graduates who are both literate and illuminated.

MULTIGRADE

The conventional practice of grading and grouping together students according to their chronological age is replaced by multi-grading. Through Diagnostic Testing, the student is evaluated relative to vocabulary and skills in each subject. This makes it possible to prescribe instruction at his actual level of achievement. His grade level is determined by his ability – not age. Students of relative social and mental maturity participate in guided social exchanges around academic and real life materials.

 

N0 ACADEMIC FAILURES:

Children do not come to school as failures, so why should they go home as failures? If a child is placed in an academic situation beyond his capability, he is headed for failure, becomes frustrated, and begins to act irresponsibly. Most delinquents are school failures. Discipline problems in the classroom and a high rate of absenteeism result from frustrations which accompany failure. The Curriculum eliminates academic failure and boredom by eliminating unfair competition and lock-step learning restraints. Prescribed “bite-size” achievable objectives provide a breakthrough for the under-achiever and a challenge for the more academically-inclined student.
